ThinkVantageTools➙FactoryRecoveryDisks.Then,followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Usingrecoverymedia
Attention:Whenyouuserecoverymediatorestorethestoragedrivetothefactory-defaultstate,allthefiles
currentlyonthestoragedrivewillbedeleted.Thesefileswillbereplacedbythefactory-defaultfiles.
TouserecoverymediaontheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Dependingonthetypeofyourrecoverymedia,connectthebootUSBstoragedevicetothecomputer,
orinsertthebootdiscintotheopticaldrive.
2.Turnonorrestartyourcomputer.
3.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,repeatedlypressandreleasetheF12key.Thestartupdevicemenu
windowisdisplayed.
4.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceandpressEnter.Therestoreprocessbegins.
5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheoperation.
Note:Afterrestoringyourcomputerstoragedrivetothefactory-defaultstate,youmighthavetoreinstall
devicedriversforsomedevices.See“Reinstallingprogramsanddevicedrivers”onpage92.
Performingbackupandrecoveryoperations
TheRescueandRecoveryprogramenablesyoutobackupallyourstoragedrivecontentsincludingthe
operatingsystem,datafiles,softwareprograms,andpersonalsettings.Youcanstorethebackupatthe
followinglocations:
•TheRescueandRecoveryworkspace
•Thesecondarystoragedriveifasecondarystoragedriveisinstalledinyourcomputer
•AnexternalUSBstoragedriveconnectedtoyourcomputer
•Anetworkdrive
•Recordablediscs(arecordableopticaldriveisrequiredforthisoption)
Afteryouhavecompletedthebackupoperation,youcanrestorepartsorwholeofthedataonthestorage
drive.

ToperformabackupoperationusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogramontheWindows7operating
system,dothefollowing:
1.FromtheWindowsdesktop,clickStart➙AllPrograms➙LenovoThinkVantageTools➙Enhanced
BackupandRestore.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramopens.
2.IntheRescueandRecoverymainwindow,clicktheLaunchadvancedRescueandRecoveryarrow.
3.ClickBackupyourharddriveandselectbackupoperationoptions.Then,followtheinstructionson
thescreentocompletethebackupoperation.
