ToperformarecoveryoperationusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogramontheWindows7operating
system,dothefollowing:
1.FromtheWindowsdesktop,clickStart➙AllPrograms➙LenovoThinkVantageTools➙Enhanced
BackupandRestore.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramopens.
2.IntheRescueandRecoverymainwindow,clicktheLaunchadvancedRescueandRecoveryarrow.
3.ClicktheRestoreyoursystemfromabackupicon.
4.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetherecoveryoperation.
PerformingarecoveryoperationfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceresidesinaprotectedandhiddenareaofyourstoragedrivethat
operatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem.TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenables
youtoperformrecoveryoperationsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Youcanperform
thefollowingrecoveryoperationsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace:
•Rescuefilesfromyourstoragedriveorfromabackup:
Youcanlocatefilesonyourstoragedriveandtransferthemtoanetworkdriveorotherrecordablemedia,
suchasaUSBdeviceoradisc.Thissolutionisavailableevenifyoudidnotbackupyourfilesorif
changesweremadetothefilessinceyourlastbackupoperation.Youalsocanrescueindividualfiles
fromaRescueandRecoverybackuplocatedonyourlocalstoragedrive,anexternalUSBdevice,or
anetworkdrive.
•RestoreyourstoragedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup:
IfyouhavebackedupyourstoragedriveusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogram,youcanrestorethe
storagedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup,evenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperating
system.
•Restoreyourstoragedrivetothefactory-defaultstate:
Youcanrestorethecompletecontentsofyourstoragedrivetothefactory-defaultstateevenifyoucannot
starttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Ifyouhavemultiplepartitionsonyourstoragedrive,youhavethe
optiontorestoretheC:partitionandleavetheotherpartitionsintact.
Attention:YoucanrestorethestoragedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackuporrestorethestorage
drivetothefactory-defaultsettings.Duringeitherprocess,allfilesontheprimarystoragedrivepartition
(usuallydriveC:)willbedeleted.Ifpossible,makecopiesofimportantfiles.IfyoucannotstarttheWindows
operatingsystem,youcanusetherescuefilesfeatureoftheRescueandRecoveryworkspacetocopyfiles
fromyourstoragedrivetoothermedia.
ToperformarecoveryoperationfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonorrestartyourcomputer.
2.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,pressEnter,andthenpressF11toentertheRescueandRecovery
workspace.
3.IfyouhavesetaRescueandRecoverypassword,enteryourpasswordwhenprompted.TheRescue
andRecoveryworkspaceopensafterashortdelay.
