Response times, stopping time of the machine
The safety sensor's rotary mirror rotates on its own axis every 40ms. One revolution is a scan. With each
additional scan the response time t
a
increases by 40ms. With K=2000mm/s approach speed this corre-
sponds with an increase in the safety distance of 80mm per additional scan. With K=1600mm/s it is
64mm.
Ä Select a response timet
a
of at least 80ms or higher.
Ä Determine the machine/system's stopping timet
m
.
If data is not available, you can commission Leuze electronic to perform measurements (see chapter
14 "Service and support").
Ä If an increase in the stopping time within the regular test periods is to be expected, take an additional
time into account for the machine's stopping timet
m
.
Additional distanceC
R0
for finger protection
The required finger protection is ensured here by an additional distance C, which depends on the safety
sensor resolution, in addition to the safety distance.
• Detection of an adult's hand:
• Resolution: 30mm
• Additional distance C
RO
: 128mm
• Arm detection:
• Resolution: 40mm
• Additional distance C

: 208mm
