5.0 Canopy Lift/Lower
5.1 Procedure for the Manual Canopy Lift
Design
Use two people to conduct the steps at the same time.
Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If
your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure,
follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Conned Space as
appropriate.
NOTE: The canopy may have only one wing nut located on
the street side instead of two.
Lifting the Canopy
1. Place unit on a at surface, block truck tires.
2. Raise the arms into the hopper.
3. Place a ladder on either side of the truck, one next to the
street side cab door and one next to the curb side cab
door in order to reach under the canopy.
4. Locate the wing nuts under the canopy lock the canopy in
current position (Figure 55).

5. Rotate the wing nuts just until loosened (Figure 56).
