Axius Steering Cylinder Clearance
Provide 2.5 cm (1 in.) of clearance around and between the steering actuator and boat transom. This area must be free of
protruding hull structures, through‑the‑hull fittings, harnesses, cables, wires, or any other obstructions between the TVM and
transom to allow the steering cylinder a full range of motion.
Mercury recommends that only the shift cable be routed behind the steering cylinder. Vessel hoses and wiring routed behind
the steering cylinder hinders service of the cylinder and may become damaged over time.
IMPORTANT: Refer to Mercury MerCruiser Service Bulletin 2012‑09 for unique shift cable routing on all 8.2 ECT sterndrive
single catalyst exhaust manifold models.
