STARTING&DRIVING
TheMGPilotsystemneedstobeusedinconjunctionwith
theadaptivecruisecontrolsystem.TheMGPilotsystem
worksonthebasisoftheadaptivecruisecontrolsystem.
Ifthelanelinesaheadonbothsidesareclear ,thesystem
canassistthevehicleindrivingwithinthelanelines.When
drivingataspeedlowerthan37mph,ifthereisavehicle
aheadandthelanelinesaheadonbothsidesaren’tclear,
thesystemalsocanassistthevehicleinfollowingthetrack
ofthevehicleahead.
Note:Thedrivershouldadjustthevehiclespeedand
thefollowingdistanceaccordingtotheroadvisibility,
weatherandroadconditions.TheMGPilotsystem
doesnotrespondtopedestrians,animals,stationary
vehiclesandvehiclesthatdriveacrossthelaneor
oncomingvehiclesinthesamelane.IftheMGPilot
systemcannotreducethevehiclespeedadequately,
thedriverMUSTapplythebrakes.Incongested
conditions,shouldanothervehiclecutintothelane
beingusedbythevehicleunderMGPilotcontrol,the
systemmaynotdetectthevehicleinadequatetime
tomakeabrakingmanoeuvre.Inthiscasethebrakes
shouldbeappliedbythedriver.
Intheabsenceofasteeringinputfromthedriverforsome
seconds,anacousticwarningisprovided,theinstrument
packprovidesayellowprompt.Ifthesystemstillfailsto
seeaninputfromthedriver ,theacousticwarningbecomes
continuousandthepromptilluminatesred.Ifthesystem
stillfailstodetectaninputfromthedriver,itwillassume
thedriverisnotabletokeeptheirhandsonthesteering
wheelandautomaticallyexitthefunction.Accompaniedby
theexit,amoreurgentacousticwarningisprovidedforat
least5soruntilthedriverholdsthesteeringcontrolagain.
Note:Whenthedriverusesthisfunctiontofollow
thetrackofthevehicleinfront,thedriverMUSTpay
attentiontothesurroundingenvironment.Overall
responsibilityfordirectionandbrakingofthecar
remainswiththedriver.
