Bar Code Reader (BCR) Setup
If you connect the BCR
while the computer power
is turned on, it may result
breakdown of the
computer. Thus, be sure
to connect it with the
power turned off.
This section
describes the
method to connect and set up the bar code reader.
1. Cable Connection
Disconnect the keyboard from the computer, connect PS2 male
connector of the BCR to the computer and the disconnected
keyboard to PS2 female connector of the BCR.
2. Bar Code Reader Setting
As this system uses “Code 93”, the BCR should be also set up to read

3. Start
Character
Setting
Start
character is to
transfer bar
codes by
adding a
certain
character in
front of the
scanned bar
codes. It
should be set as “#”, so that program can work normally. For most
BCRs, the start character has not been set.
4. End Character Setting
Like the start character, end character is to transfer bar codes by
adding a certain character at the end of the bar codes. It should be
set as “CR (Carriage Return)”, so that program can work normally.
For most BCRs, the end character has been set as CR.
5. How to Check the Setting  Select Windows-Start Menu 
Programs  Auxiliary Programs  Memo Pad.
 Read the bar code while the Memo Pad runs, and the bar
code string is displayed on the memo pad where you can check
the start character and the end character you have set in the
above Steps 3 and 4.
 If the bar code is not scanned, check whether the keyboard
has been connected to the bar code reader and whether the bar
code type has been correctly set.
