Secondary Data Polling Procedure
The following procedure details the steps performed by HOC personnel to
poll secondary AMA data from the BMC. In this procedure, the HOC
personnel include an embedded SELGRP value in the polling request

Switch back to the processor where the alarm occurred and determine that
communication to that shelf is ok.

System responds with a time stamp and identity of the active processor. If response is
normal, the procedure is complete. No further action required.
If communication is still not working and the Quad SIO PCA has not been replaced,
replace the Quad SIO PCA in the affected chassis using the procedure in the
Hardware
Replacement
subsection. If the PCA has already been replaced and the communication
is still not working on the faulty shelf, contact your next level of support.

To diagnose communication failures to both Quad SIO PCAs from the user’s terminal,
check the following items:
• Make sure the local terminal is logged into the BMC.
• Check to determine whether the printer/Terminal used, is ok.
• Check cabling from the printer to the BMC.
• Replace the Power and Alarm Communications PCA using the procedure in the
Hardware Replacement subsection. Return to step 1.
• If none of the above items are the cause of the SIO communication problem, contact your
next level of support.
