2-62 Section 060-INDP-111 System Description
297-6201-502 Standard 01.02 September 2000
where: xx - A2 - Communications port; Modem/HOC (download) link.
- A4 - Maintenance port; BMC is unable to obtain a Switching
System prompt from the Maintenance Interface printer port
(Terminal 2 for DMS-100;SDI port for DMS-10).
- A6 - Maintenance port; teleprinter.
The running test is the same as the manual test, with the same error message
output. The running test is called automatically by the program every one-
half (0.5) second.
DMA Communication Test
The DMA provides the control and processing of data transfers between the
main CPU and the TEC/DSI. During a transfer operation, the DMA controls
reading from and writing to addressable ports. The data flow is handled on a
byte-by-byte basis. These addressable ports may be either main memory or
TEC/DSI.
There is only the manual test for DMA Communication. The test consists of
transmitting a message from the main CPU to the TEC/DSI. The message
from the CPU is a "trigger" for the TEC/DSI to send a test block to the CPU.
The CPU checks the returned test block to ensure that it is equal to the data
that was originally requested by the CPU. The TEC/DSI response must occur
within one second or an error indicating communications failure is generated.
The following error message is output to the terminal; refer to the procedure
for this message and perform the craftsperson activities listed:
Bx TEC COMM FAIL
where: x - TEC/DSI Port ID (0 or 2)
0 - message is from TEC/DSI PCA in slot A13
2 - message is from TEC/DSI PCA in slot A12.
If the data is returned within the specified one second, but is not as requested
by the CPU, the following error message is output to the terminal; refer to the
procedure for this message and perform the craftsperson activities listed:
DMA TEST FAILED
The DMA test is run if the TEC/DSI Communication tests have first
established that communications with one of the TEC/DSIs is possible.
PIO Communication Test
The PIO is the medium of communication between the active and standby
processors, using the transmit and receive routines resident in the program
software. The PIO Communication test is initiated when the transmitter starts
sending a message (receiving an echo for each byte transmitted), to the
