Symptoms Cause Possible countermeasure
The Tag Com-
parison Result
Screen is shown.
The tag set for the project
does not match and tag
set for the host.
Correct the host tag, and then click the Recompare Button.
Correct the project tag, and then download the project data to
the NS-series PT again.
Errors When Connecting the Host
Symptoms Cause Possible countermeasure
If the connection is via the
Ethernet, the node
address, network number,
IP address, or other
settings are incorrect.
Refer to Section 5-1 Connecting to Host via Ethernet in the
NS Series Setup Manual.
Protocol settings for the
host and PT settings do
not match.
Use CX-Designer to make communications settings.
PT and host not
connected properly.
Check that the type of connection cable, the length, and the
wiring meet the specifications.
(Refer to Section 4 Connecting the Host to Serial Port in the
NS Series Setup Manual (Cat. No. V083).)
For 1:N NT Links, a
duplicate unit number has
been used.
Change the unit number setting so the number is not dupli-
cated. (Refer to 6-6 Communications Settings in the NS Se-
ries Setup Manual (Cat. No. V083).)
With the NS5, the Inter-
face for serial port B is set
to the extension interface
when the connection is to
serial port B.
Set the interface to use port B on the Comm Tab Page from
the NS5 System Menu.
Cannot connect to
host.
(“Connecting”
message dis-
played at bottom
right of screen.)
Initialization of System
Memory at startup is dis-
abled, and the NS-series
PT is started with a
non-existing screen
number (0 to 3,999)
stored in the allocation
address for $SW0 or a
special screen number,
such as 4002, that dis-
plays the System Menu is
stored.
Store a correct screen number to display at the allocation
address for $SW0.
Cannot commu-
nicate after
changing commu-
nications port.
The communications port
set under screen data or
in the host settings is
incorrect.
Change the CX-Designer communications settings or the
host settings to the correct settings. (Refer to System Set-
tings and Project Properties in the CX-Designer Online Help.)
Errors during PT Operation
Symptoms Cause Possible countermeasure
Indicators remain
orange while
project data is
read.
Battery is low or battery is
not connected.
If the battery is low during startup, the indicators will be
orange but normal operation will continue.
Replace the battery within five minutes from when the power
is next turned OFF.
Power not supplied to the
PT.
Check the connections and supply power correctly to the PT.
(Refer to 3-1 Installing the PT in the NS Series Setup
Manual (Cat. No. V083).)
RUN indicator is
not lit.
Power supply fuse bro-
ken.
The PT must be repaired. Contact your nearest OMRON
representative.
