4. OPERATING BASICS
This section describes the principle of operation of the combiner, as well as the way to operate and
configure it.
4-1 Principle of operation
The combiner is composed of the following functions:
- Each laser source emits its optical output on a separate beam,
- Some of these beams can be modulated or attenuated by some optional components: acousto-optic
modulator (AOM) or a motorized power attenuator (MPA),
- The combining optics merge these beams into a single beam geometry, and steers them towards the
output channel
- The output channel is fitted with a shutter able to completely block the output light,
- As an option, an optical fiber delivers the combined beams to the far end of a patch cable.
