Gear Cluster Disassembly
20. Remove the bearing from the reverse shaft using a
b
earing puller. Slide the engagement dog off of the
reverse shaft (see Figure 8-1).
21. Remove the retaining ring and washer from the
re
verse shaft (see Figure 8-1).
22. Remove the bearing from the input shaft using a
b
earing puller (see Figure 8-1).
23. Remove the 33T gear and needle bearing from the
re
verse shaft (see Figure 8-1).
24. The reverse shaft should slide out of the silent chain
t
o separate the assembly.
25. Remove the rest of the ball be
arings from each shaft.
26. Disassemble the other end of the reverse shaft.
Re
move the retaining ring, washer, gear and needle
bearing from the reverse shaft (see Figure 8-2).
27. Remove the washer, retaining ring and engagement
dog
from the reverse shaft (see Figure 8-2).
28. Remove the retaining ring, washer, 38T sprocket and
nee
dle bearing from the reverse shaft (see Figure 8-
2).
