16 Decommissioning and disposal
WARNING!
Danger from chemical residue
There is normally chemical residue in the liquid
end and on the housing after operation. This
chemical residue could be hazardous to people.
– It is mandatory that the safety information in
the "Storage, transport and unpacking" chapter
is read before shipping or transport.
–
Thoroughly clean the liquid end and the
housing of chemicals and dirt. Adhere to the
material safety data sheet for the feed chem‐
ical.
WARNING!
Warning of hazardous feed chemical
Should a dangerous feed chemical be used: it may
escape from the hydraulic components when
working on the pump, material failure or incorrect
handling of the pump.
– Take appropriate protective measures before
working on the pump (e.g. safety glasses,
safety gloves, ...). Adhere to the material safety
data sheet for the feed chemical.
–
Drain and flush the liquid end before working
on the pump.
CAUTION!
Warning of feed chemical spraying around
Feed chemical may spray out of the hydraulic com‐
ponents if they are tampered with or opened due to
pressure in the liquid end and adjacent parts of the
system.
– Disconnect the pump from the mains power
supply and ensure that it cannot be switched
on again by unauthorised persons.
–
Ensure that the system is at atmospheric pres‐
sure before commencing any work on hydraulic
parts of the system.
Danger of damage to the unit
Take into account the information in the "Storage,
transport and unpacking" chapter if the system is
decommissioned for a temporary period.
1. Disconnect the pump from the mains/power supply.
2. Drain the liquid end by turning the pump upside down and
allowing the feed chemical to run out.
3. Flush the liquid end with a suitable medium; flush the dosing
head thoroughly when using hazardous feed chemicals!
