2.2.3 Magnification mechanism
The mirror/lens motor powers the magnification drive,
and the worm gear and timing belt move the lens and
mirrors. The motor is a stepping motor that can zoom in
increments of 1 percent within a range of 64% to 142%.
Pulses from the mirror/lens motor drive board control the
motor.
Lens drive
When magnification (64% to 142%) is set, the
mirror/lens motor turns ON, and the worm gear, timing
belt, and timing pulley begin to work.
The timing belt is fixed to the 1st mirror housing, and the
1st mirror housing moves along the grooves of the 1st
mirror guide rod and the housing guide.
The 1st mirror housing includes the lens holder. The
lens holder interlocks with the 1st mirror housing and
moves along the lens guide rods and the lens drive cam.
