• [1] 4800 bps
• [2] 7200 bps
• [3] 9600 bps
• [4] 12000 bps
• [5] 14400 bps
9th digit: No meaning; always set to 0
10th digit: Miscellaneous
• [1] Journal entry needs to be printed
• [2] Remote diagnostics
• [4] PC send
11th digit: Errors when sending a fax

12th digit: Errors when sending a fax
• [1] PRI (Procedure Interrupt)
• [2] PPS (Partial Page Signal)
• [3] PPS-PRI
• [4] EOR (End of Retransmission)
• [5] EOR-PRI [8] RTN (Retrain Negative) received, indicating subsequent line noise
• [9] PRI/RTN received; pages should be sent at a lower baud rate
Error codes (last three digits): Three-digit codes are added after the 12-digit code to identify errors that
occurred during the fax session.
• 401: Sending fax machine is polling and the DCS (Digital Command Signal) responded that there is no
document to send. The sending fax disconnected.
• 402: When sending a fax, the session disconnected after waiting 3 seconds for a received frame from the
transmitter, or the line signal was gone more than 0.2 seconds.
• 403: Fax session timed out if no fax tones were detected in an incoming call (not a fax call), the line
interface unit is defective, or the incoming fax call was from a “silent” fax machine. Enable Silent Detect
on your machine.
• 404: Your machine polled a machine that does not have a document to be polled.
• 411: Phone line drops or the calling fax aborts during the training phase. For the first page at least,
Connecting displays.
