10.9 Error Detection
10.9.1 General errors
 If a technical alarm is still present at shut down a reminder is displayed.
 If it is not possible to get the device back into operating condition within a
reasonable period of time, continue cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Forced shutdown procedure
 If it is not possible to get the device back into operating condition, follow this
procedure:
 Press and hold the green button until the device has switched off. Then
switch on again.
Error Cause Remedy
The screen is not lit when
the device is switched on
• Battery not inserted correctly or
defective
• Battery empty
• The device is defective
 Insert battery correctly or replace it
 Connect to the power supply (docking Station) and
charge battery
 Replace device
Device cannot be switched
off
• Software hangs
• The device is defective
 Keep the green button pressed for at least 10 seconds.
 Replace device
No analysis
• ECG signal too weak
• ECG signal interference through
electromagnetic waves
• Patient moved or touched dur-
ing analysis
• The device is defective
 Perform cardiac massage again
 Turn off source of signal interference. e.g. radio equip-
ment or cell phone, or move patient outside field of inter-
ference
 Do not move or touch patient during analysis
 Replace device
Unable to deliver shock

• Battery too low
• Electrode error caused by re-
suscitation measures
• Heart rhythm has changed
• The device is defective
 Change batteries
 Reapply electrodes
 Run new analysis
 Replace device
Battery is not being
charged
• Temperature in the device or
battery too high
 Let device cool down, if possible; charging is continued
once the temperature has reached an acceptable level.
