The zero calibration gas must be of the same type as the ordered background. For example, a
SERVOPRO FID measuring hydrocarbons in argon must be calibrated with a pure argon sample
gas.

A hydrocarbon trap must be used in order to remove all hydrocarbons.

The span gas must of the same background as the ordered background.

The suggested amount of methane in the sample is at least 80% of the range in use. If the range
0-1000 ppm is used, a sample containing at least 800 ppm of methane is required.
