Terminating the initial boot procedure
Ê Enter the login name root, and confirm with Ú.
Ê Then enter a password and confirm with Ú .
For security reasons you are prompted for the password again.
Ê Enter the password again and confirm with Ú .
The system then switches to multiuser mode.
If you have an alphanumeric console, you will see the flashing cursor on the
command line.
If you have a graphical monitor, you will see the SINIX/windows login window.
Your system is now ready for use.
You can now begin configuring the connected peripheral devices and the system,
defining printer groups, adding users, and installing software products. For infor-
mation on these activities, please refer to the manuals listed in “Related publica-
tions” at the back of this manual, and to the respective product manuals.
You may, however, wish to continue with hardware installation until all of the
peripheral devices have been connected. In this case, you must first switch off the
system (see the section “Shutting down the system unit” on page 34) and then pull
out the power plugs.
