Objective
The Descriptions of Functions provide the information required for configuration and
installation.
Target groups
The Descriptions of Functions are designed for:
• Design engineers
• PLC user-program programmers
• Startup engineers once the system has been configured and set up
• Maintenance personnel responsible for inspecting and interpreting status signals and
alarms
Structure of the Function Manual
Structure of this Function Manual:
• Inside title page (page 3) with the title of this function manual, the SINUMERIK controls
and the software and version for which this edition of the function manual applies, as well
as the overview of the descriptions of functions.
• The description of each function is a separate book.
• Appendix with list of abbreviations and terms.
An overview of the functions described in this function manual is found on page three. The
functions are listed in alphanumeric order of their abbreviations (e.g. A2, A3, etc.). This
sequence also includes the Description of Functions books in the Function Manual.
