The information given here is intended as basic safety information with regard to
certain types of hazards that can arise in certain situations.
This basic safety information is to be complied with whenever working at the
device. Risks to health and hazardous situations can thus be avoided. Specific
safety and warning information can be found in the corresponding sections and is
also to be complied with.
The residual risks were determined on the basis of a risk assessment. All persons
working at or with the device must know what the residual risks are. If necessary,
internal instructions must be given according to the professional qualifications of
the persons involved. The instructions are to be followed to prevent accidents or
damage occurring as a consequence of the residual risks.

3.10.1 Hazards due to electrical energy
Contact with live components is potentially fatal and will result in severe injury or
death. Furthermore, active electrical components can execute uncontrolled
movements.
Work on electrical systems and equipment is to be carried out by a qualified
electrician only and in accordance with electrical engineering standards. Prior
to work being started on the electrical system:
the device is to be de-energised.
the device is to be protected against re-activation.
the de-energised state is to be verified.
Use only electrically-insulated tools.
Watch out for damage to electrical equipment and check for this at regular
intervals. Loose cable connections and damaged or scorched cables present a
hazard. Eliminate defects immediately.
Keep control cabinets and boxes closed at all times. Allow only authorised
personnel access.
For tasks carried out at live parts, have a second person present who, in case
of emergency, can interrupt the power supply. Immediately deactivate the
device if there is a fault with the energy supply system.

3.10.2 Hazards due to laser radiation
The device works with a high-energy Class 4 laser beam. Exposure of the eyes
and/or skin to laser radiation (including scatter radiation) can cause severe
damage (burns) to the eyes and/or skin.
The inspection glass of the door must be present and undamaged.
If performing servicing tasks at the device, or working at the laser system, with the
device not securely disconnected from the mains and thus the laser not protected
against inadvertent activation:
always use protective laser goggles.
Note
If the door is opened during normal operation, the laser will be safely deactivated
via the door-monitoring switch.
