Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
Insufficient lubricant
discharge
Air cushion in main metering device or secondary metering device
Perform venting on the secondary metering device
discharging too little lubricant.
Grease progressive system - see Chapter 7.1
Oil progressive system - see Chapter 7.2
No lubricant at
lubrication points
Main metering device or secondary metering device is defective
- Can be detected if no grease can be pressed through the metering
device after removing all union nuts or fittings at the outlets.
Replace the metering device
- Loosen all fittings, mark lines, secure against outside
influences
Install a new metering device
Important!
The metering and arrangement of sections on the new
metering device must be identical to the previous (defective)
metering device.
Install lubrication lines in the correct order as marked
previously
Only use original SKF spare parts!
Perform start-up and functional inspection.
Check the flow in the main metering device and secondary metering
device
- Sequentially remove union nuts or fittings at the outlets; check
valves may be built into the outlet fittings.
- Trigger intermediate lubrication.
- The metering device is functioning properly if significant grease dis-
charge is seen at all outlets.
- Replace the metering device if grease does not discharge at all
outlets.
Defective or blocked secondary feed line
Detach feed line, identify cause of blockage, replace
secondary feed line if necessary
