12.1 General notes
DANGER
Explosion
Prior to replacing an inductive
NAMUR sensor, all safety-related
ATEX rules and certificates must be
present and maintained. It must be
ensured (checked) that no potential-
ly explosive atmosphere is present.
WARNING
Risk of injury
At a minimum, the following safety
measures must be taken before any
repairs:
○ Unauthorized persons must be
kept away.
○ Mark and secure the work area.
○ Depressurize the product.
○ Unlock the product and prevent it
from being restarted.
○ Cover any live parts in the sur-
rounding area.
○ The applicable ATEX Directives
must be observed.

Explosion hazard from non-ATEX-
compliant attachments and moni-
toring equipment
Only attachments and monitoring
equipment approved by SKF for the
ATEX progressive metering devices
may be installed.
