Caution and Warning Symbols
The following International symbols are used throughout this manual to identify warning and caution
messages.
Caution: This symbol appears adjacent to Caution messages. Failure to
heed these messages could result in minor injury and damage to
equipment.
Warning: This symbol appears adjacent to High Voltage Warning
messages. Failure to heed these messages could result in serious personal
injury.
High Temperature: This symbol appears adjacent to High
Temperature Warning messages. Failure to heed these messages could
result in personal injury.
Explosion: This symbol appears adjacent to Explosion Warning
messages. Failure to heed these messages could result in personal injury.
These messages warn of possible high pressure lamp explosions. Always
wear eye protection and clothing as per lamp manufactures guidelines.
Precautions:
The STARLITE Mk5 is NOT intended for domestic or outdoor use.
Check the unit is set correctly for the local electricity supply.
The unit must be protected by a fuse/breaker, of the correct type and rating
For safety reasons and correct operation, the unit(s) must be earthed!
The Starlite Mk5 lamp will produce ultraviolet radiation in use. Exposure to
unshielded lamp will result in skin and eye burns. The unit is fitted with an
interlock system, which will extinguish the lamp if the lamp-housing door is
opened. This interlock is fitted for your protection and should not be tampered
with.
Do not attempt to open the lamp housing whilst the lamp is in operation!
Allow the unit to cool sufficiently before changing the lamp.
(typically 20 mins)
Disconnect the power cord before :
changing the lamp
altering unit voltage
fault finding/maintenance
To avoid the risk of electric shock or fire, do not operate the unit in close
proximity to liquids or moisture of any kind.
Fuses should only be replaced with the specified type, voltage and current
ratings.
Rig the unit with care and ALWAYS use a safety wire.
When rigging the unit, allow enough space for the movement of the head and
ensure the unit, and its output beam, are a safe distance away from flammable
materials.
Make sure all cables (and other objects) clear of the area used for head
movement.
Ensure the unit has cooled completely before packing it away (allow 25 mins).
Use the handles for carrying the unit.
