Foreword
This issue of the Digital Network Exchange Series (DNX) Quick Install & Setup Guide contains
instructions for inspecting equipment, part descriptions, hardware installation/setup, and power-
ing up the system. For more detailed information, refer to the DNX-11 Reference and User’s
Guide or the DNX-88 Reference and User’s Guide. The following features that have been
added since the last update of this document:
• Added new views of DNX-11 rear with added AC power restraints.
• Removed DNX-4 information (product discontinued)
• Added grounding strap connection for the PSX-5300.
Note: Screens shown in this document still reflect Eastern Research, as the software has not
yet been rebranded as Sycamore Networks.
Guide Summary
This Quick Install Guide is designed to provide instructions for mounting a DNX or PSX chassis
into a rack, installing power supplies, innstalling the System Manager Controller card set,
installing interface and application module sets, and installing the N+1 Protection Switch.
Instructions for logging into the DNX are also furnished. Please read it through carefully and
completely to become familiar with its contents and instructions. This material is targeted to
qualified telecommunications engineering and operations personnel and is intended to be a
supplemental technical aid to complement the DNX-related training programs available through
Sycamore Networks Education Services.
