Firmware versions later than build 2815 have a system reset function; remove
power from the reader, activate the tamper by removing the unit from the mounting
plate. Reapply power and wait for the ‘System Broken’ message to be displayed,
and then hold down the Esc key for one minute. This will restore the reader to the
factory default settings.

In some circumstances fingerprint verification fails because of the poor quality of
the enrolled fingerprint. The fingerprint may have been smoothed by rubbing (such
as sanding) or be subject to peeling skin through burns, disease or chemical
damage.
When enrolling a user ensure that the best fingerprint is picked and in cases where
these problems may occur, enrol several fingerprints. 1:1 matching may be more
effective (see page 3). In extreme cases, chose a password verification method for
the user.
