7. Observe the results.
Capturing a Single-Shot Signal
In this example, the reliability of a reed relay in a piece of equipment has been poor, and you need to investigate the problem.
You suspect that the relay contacts arc when the relay opens. The fastest y ou can open and close the relay is about once per
minute, so
you need to capture the voltage across the relay as a single-shot acquisition.
To set up f
or a single-shot acquisition:
1. Adjust the Vertical Scale and Horizontal Scale to appropriate ranges for the signal you expect to see.
2. Push Acq
uire.
3. Push Mode.
4. Select Sample.
5. Push Trigger Menu.
6. Push Slope and .
7. Turn the Trigger Level knob to adjust
the trigger level to a voltage midway
between the open and closed voltages
of the replay.
