3.14 Port Mirroring
3.14.1 Mirroring Introduction
Port mirroring is a method of monitoring network traffic that
forwards a copy of each incoming and outgoing packet from one
port of a network switch to another port where the packet can be
studied. TEG3224T allows the users to configure port mirroring by
assigning the target port from which to copy all packets and source
port where those packets will be sent. The user can attach a
monitoring device to the mirrored port, such as a Sniffer or an
RMON probe to be as a diagnostic tool or debugging feature,
especially when fending off an attack. It enables the user to keep
close track of switch performance and alter it if necessary, as shown
below.
