2.22.1 Examples of various protection functions
2.22.1.1 External Emergency key in the lab
An external emergency key (opener) is connected to the two pins of the interlock.
If there are other safety switch functions connect all switches in series.
2.22.1.2 Temperature control
Sometimes you may want to monitor the cooling loop of a high-power diode laser,
e.g. the temperature of the cooling water. A suitable setup offers a switch that will
open in case of an error.
If only a certain temperature range is to be monitored, a suitable (fast) thermo switch
can be used.
This switch (opener) is connected between the two pins of the interlock.

2.22.1.3 Safety-door monitoring
If the laser is to be operated in a closed setup (lab) a switch should be installed in a
suitable position, interrupting when the setup (lab-door) is opened.
This switch (opener) is connected to the two pins of the interlock.
