Method B: Without Using a Survey
Rover
1. Create a flat plane design file.
2. Place a marker or hub in a flat open
area.
3. Position the machine directly North
(both edges of the bucket will have
the same Northing value).
4. Curl the bucket in and place a corner
of the bucket over the marker.
5. Using 3DMC, record the Easting
value of a corner of the bucket (e.g.
520.39).
6. Extend the bucket to it’s fullest
extent and place the same corner
over the hub.
7. Using 3DMC, record the Easting
value of the corner from 3DMC (e.g.
520.40).
8. Rotate the machine 180° to position
it directly South.
9. Curl the bucket in and place a corner
of the bucket over the marker.
10. Using 3DMC, record the Easting
value of the corner (e.g. 520.45).
11. Extend the bucket to it’s fullest
extent and place the same corner
over the hub.
12. Using 3DMC, record the Easting
value of the corner (e.g. 520.46).
13. To determine the error when
extended, subtract the smaller
number from the larger number
(Table 4-4 on page 4-15).
