1.Removetherearwheels;refertoRemovingandInstallingtheRearWheels
(page7–5).
CAUTION
Becarefulwhenremovingextensionspringfromparkingbrake
bellcrank.Thespringisunderheavyloadandmaycausepersonal
injury.
2.Removeparkingbrakecomponentsasnecessary.
3.Cleanallparts.Inspectbrakecable,brakebar,andbrakelugsonwheelhub
forexcessivewearordamage.Replaceanydamagedparts.
4.Ifawheelhubrequiresremoval:
A.Useatorquemultipliertoloosenthelocknutthatsecuresthehubtothe
wheelmotor.Donotremovethelocknutfromthemotorshaft.
IMPORTANT
DONOThitthewheelhub,wheelhubpuller,orwheelmotorwith
ahammerduringwheelhubremoval.Hammeringmaycause
damagetothewheelmotor.
B.Useahubpullertoloosenthewheelhubfromthewheelmotor;refer
toWheelHubPuller(page2–18).
C.Removethelocknut,hub,andwoodruffkeyfromthemotorshaft.
5.Installanyparkingbrakecomponentspreviouslyremoved.
6.Ifawheelhubwasremoved:
IMPORTANT
Beforeinstallingthewheelhub,cleanthetapersofthewheel
hubandwheelmotorshaft.Ensurethatthetapersarefreeof
grease,oil,rust,anddirt.Donotuseanti-seizelubricant,when
youinstallthewheelhub.
Donotusethelocknutpreviouslyremovedtoattachthewheel
hubtothewheelmotor.
A.Cleanthetapersofthewheelhubandwheelmotorshaftandinstallthe
woodruffkey,wheelhub,andanewlocknutonthewheelmotorshaft.
B.Useatorquemultipliertotightenthelocknutfrom271to542N·m(200
to400ft–lb).
7.Installtherearwheelsandtesttheparkingbrakeoperationbeforereturning
themachinetoservice.
