theenginecrankshaft.Pushingthetopofthetractionpedalrotatesthevariable
displacementpumpswashplateinthetransmissiontocreateaowofuid.This
uidisdirectedtothexeddisplacementmotorinthetransmissionwhichturns
thefrontaxleinputshafttodrivethefrontwheelsintheforwarddirection.
Fluidowingfromthemotorreturnstothevariabledisplacementpumpandis
continuouslypumpedthroughtheclosedtractioncircuitaslongasthetraction
pedalispushed.
Agerotorchargepumpinthehydrostatprovidesaconstantsupplyofcharge
uidtotheclosedlooptractioncircuitforlubricationandtomakeupforuidthat
islostduetointernalleakageinthetransmissionpumpandmotor.Thecharge
pumptakesitssuctionthroughalterfromthereservoir(frontaxle).Charge
pumpowisdirectedtothelowpressuresideoftheclosedlooptractioncircuit.
Chargepressureislimitedto482to1,034kPa(70to150psi)bythecharge
pressurereliefvalveinthetransmission.Chargepressurecanbemonitoredat
thetransmissionchargepumptestport.Chargepumpowinexcessoftraction
circuitchargeneedsprovideshydraulicowforthesteeringandliftcircuits.
