Theseatswitchisnormallyopenandcloseswhentheoperatorisontheseat.If
thetractionsystemorPTOswitchisengagedwhentheoperatorraisesoutofthe
seat,theengineshutsoff.Theseatswitchanditselectricalconnectorarelocated
directlyundertheseat(Figure137).Testingoftheswitchcanbedonewithout
seatremovalbydisconnectingtheseatwirefromthemachinewireharness.
TheStandardControlModule(SCM)monitorstheoperationoftheseatswitch.If
thekeyswitchisintheONpositionandtheseatisoccupied,theSCMinseat
inputLEDshouldbeilluminated.
TestingtheSeatSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,settheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.Beforeyoudisconnecttheseatswitchfortesting,ensurethatyoutestthe
switchanditscircuitwiringasaSCMinput;refertoStandardControlModule
(SCM)(page6–3).
3.IftheSCMveriesthattheseatswitchandcircuitwiringarefunctioning
correctly,proceedwiththetest.
4.IftheSCMdeterminesthattheseatswitchandcircuitwiringarenot
functioningcorrectly,thentesttheseatswitchasfollows:
5.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.Locatetheswitchfortesting.
6.Disconnectthemachinewireharnesselectricalconnectorfromtheseat
switch(Figure137).
7.Connectamultimeter(ohmssetting)acrosstheseatswitchharness
connectorterminalstocheckthecontinuityoftheseatswitch.
A.Withnopressureontheseat,ensurethatthereisnocontinuitybetween
theharnessterminalsoftheseatswitch.
B.Pressdirectlyontotheseatswitchthroughtheseatcushion.Ensurethat
thereiscontinuitybetweentheharnessterminalsoftheseatswitchas
theseatcushionapproachesthebottomofitstravelindicatingthatthe
seatswitchisfunctioning.
