Fitting)(page5–9)andInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThread
O-RingFittingintotheComponentPort)(page5–11).
6.Afteryoucompletetherepairs,checkthecontrollinkagesorcablesfor
properadjustment,binding,orbrokenparts.
7.Afteryoucompletetherepairs,cleanthehydrauliccomponents,hose
connections,andttingstopreventfutureaccumulationofdirtandunwanted
materialonthehydrauliccomponents.
8.Afteryoudisconnectorreplaceanyhydrauliccomponents,operatethe
machinefunctionsslowlyuntiltheairisoutofthesystem;refertoCharging
theHydraulicSystem(page5–85).
9.Checkforhydraulic-uidleaks.Shutofftheengineandrepairleaksif
necessary.
10.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulicreservoir(frontaxle)andadd
correctquantityofuidifnecessary.
CheckingtheHydraulicLinesandHoses

Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecanpenetrateskinand
causeinjury.
•Ensurethatallhydraulic-uidhosesandlinesareingood
conditionandallhydraulicconnectionsandttingsaretight
beforeapplyingpressuretothehydraulicsystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin-holeleaksornozzles
thatejecthigh-pressurehydraulicuid.
•Useapieceofcardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
•Releaseallpressureinthehydraulicsystembeforeperforming
anyworkonthesystem.
•Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifhydraulicuidisinjected
intoyourskin.
IMPORTANT
Checkthehydrauliclinesandhosesdailyforleaks,kinked
lines,loosemountingsupports,wear,loosettings,andhose
deterioration.Repairthedamagedhydrauliclinesandhosesbefore
operatingthemachine.
