IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttheshaftsurfacecoulddamagethe
shaft.Whensecuringtheshaftinavise,protecttheshaftsurface.
5.Mounttheshaftinavise.Removethelocknutandpistonfromtheshaft.
Carefullyslidetheheadandinternalcollarofftheshaft.
6.RemoveanddiscardtheBPseal(item2inFigure99)andO-ringsfromthe
piston.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ring,dustseal,andBSsealfromthehead.
InspectingtheSteeringCylinder
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
1.Washallthecylindercomponentsincleansolventanddrythemwith
compressedair.
2.Inspecttheinternalsurfaceofthebarrelfordeepscratches,out-of-roundness,
andbending.
3.Inspectthehead,shaft,andpistonforexcessivepitting,scoring,andwear.
4.Replacethesteeringcylinderiftheinternalcomponentsarewornor
damaged.
AssemblingtheSteeringCylinder(2-WheelDrive)
1.UseanewsealkitandreplaceallthesealsandO-ringstothepistonand
head.Applycleanhydraulicuidtoallthesealkitcomponentsbeforeyou
installthem.
IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttheshaftsurfacecoulddamagethe
shaft.Whensecuringtheshaftinavise,protecttheshaftsurface.
2.Mounttheshaftsecurelyinavise.
3.Coattheshaftlightlywithcleanhydraulicuid.Slidetheinternalcollaronto
theshaft.
Note:DonotdamagethesealsandO-ringsduringinstallation.
4.Installtheheadandpistonontotheshaft.Installthelocknutontotheshaft
andtightenthelocknut.
5.Removetheshaftfromthevise.
IMPORTANT
Whenclampingthecylinder’sbarrelinavise;clamponthepivotend
onlytopreventdamage.Donotclosetheviseonthebarrel.
6.Mountthesteeringcylinderbarrelinaviseequippedwithsoftjawsby
clampingonthebarrelsothattheshaftendtiltsupslightly.
