RemovingtheIdlerAssembly
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Removethebeltcoversfromthetopofthecuttingdeck.Removethedrive
beltfromthedeckpulleys;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
3.Insertanutdriverorsmallpieceofpipeontothetorsionspringendofthe
idlerarm.
CAUTION
Thespringisunderheavyloadandcancausepersonalinjury.
Becarefulwhenremovingtensionfromthetorsionspringofthe
idlerarm.
4.Carefullypushthetorsionspringenddownandawayfromtheidlerarm
tounhookthespringfromthearm.
5.Removethesnapring(item2inFigure295)thatretainstheidlerarm
assemblytothecuttingdeck.
6.RemovetheidlercomponentsasshowninFigure295.
InstallingtheIdlerAssembly
1.Installtheidlercomponentsthatwereremoved,andsecuretheidlerarm
assemblytothecuttingdeckwiththesnapring(Figure295).
2.Insertanutdriverorsmallpieceofpipeontothetorsionspringendofthe
idlerarm.
CAUTION
Thespringisunderheavyloadandcancausepersonalinjury.
Becarefulwhenapplyingtensiontothetorsionspringoftheidler
arm.
3.Carefullypushdownonthetorsionspringendtogetthespringunderthe
idlerarmmountingplate.Thenreleasethespringslowlytolockitinplace.
4.Installthedrivebeltontothepulleys;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’s
Manual.
5.Installthebeltcoverstothecuttingdeck;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’s
Manual.
