Chapter 4 – System Installation
PRE-INSTALLATION
REQUIREMENTS
Refer to the IPedge Hardware chapter in this document for power,
environment, and UPS requirements. Refer to the LAN Requirements
chapter for network performance specifications and measurement tools.
Before starting this procedure the following information is required for
each IPedge server.
• Two Static IP addresses
– IPedge server LAN
– IPedge Server IPMI connection
• Netmask
• Broadcast address
• Network Time Protocol source
• Host name
• Default Gateway IP address
• DNS server IP address
NETWORK NAMES The network names shown in the table below are assigned during the
server installation process.
The names use alpha-numeric characters (A ~ Z, a ~ z and 0 ~ 9) and are
case sensitive. For example: NorthTower012.
Descriptive names are recommended. Names could show location by city,
campus location or server room and rack location.

Domain name of this enterprise. Assign
the same Enterprise name to all nodes.
Server Name Required Required
Unique, descriptive name of the server.
Register this name in the DNS server.

Unique, descriptive name - Used as
authentication by internal processes.
Host Name Required Required
Same as the Server name
This will be also used be for the Meeting
server.
