3. Functional description
3.1 Operating principle
WID511 receives data from Vaisala wind sensors, using RS‑485/RS‑232 or Ethernet
connection.
To ensure uninterrupted data flow, several displays can be connected in parallel when using
RS‑485/RS‑232 connection, or connected in a parallel LAN bus. If one of the displays fails,
the other displays continue to display data.
The operation of the display is determined by the display configuration.

3.2 Data sources
The display supports Vaisala wind sensors (such as WMT700) and multiple message
formats.
