3. 2 Description of the Device
The patient side of the EyeRefract unit contains the hardware with which the patient is in
contact, such as the phoropter apertures and the forehead support. Opposite it is the rear
panel, which contains various connectors, a built-in printer, and the power switch. A flap on the
top of the unit contains a tablet on which the near-vision target is displayed.
Patient Side
Near-vision target
Displays a chart for near-vision refraction
Open during near-vision testing (shown); closed during far-vision testing; see
Near-Vision Target.
Optical-measurement head (left)
The left and right heads (#2 and #4) contain the hardware used to perform all of
the measurements during patient diagnostic exams.
Forehead support
The patient's forehead should lean on the forehead support during all diagnostic
procedures.
