Introduction
The EyeRefract is an ophthalmic diagnostic device.
The EyeRefract is a combination of a phoropter head and a wavefront analyser. The wavefront
analyser is used to provide an automatic objective measurement of the patient's eye. Initially it
is used to provide a good starting point for the subjective test, but can also be used again after
the subjective test to increase the accuracy of the result.
The phoropter lenses with a variety of refractive powers are arranged on a number of wheels.
The total spherical power and cylinder power can be changed by turning the wheels. The
wheels also contain the traditional phoropter accessories.
The machine is used together with a distant screen for the subjective test. A near vision target
is also included for near vision testing.
The EyeRefract contains a single ring keratometer that is used for alignment of the eye and for
measurement of the corneal radius of curvature. There are three modes of operation;
phoropter, autorefractometer, keratometer
The intended users of the EyeRefract are ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians.
Caution: Federal (U.S.) Law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a
physician.
1. 1 Indications for Use
The EyeRefract is a computerized phoropter that determines the refractive correction needed
by means of a subjective refraction. An initial wavefront estimate is made of the patient's
refraction to provide a good starting point, the prescription is then completed with a traditional
subjective test.
The intended users of the EyeRefract are ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians.
