The Transect data tab will activate automatically, as shown in Figure 75.

The user can begin moving the vessel across the channel, with the vessel pointing
roughly perpendicular to the direction of flow. All attempts should be made to keep the
vessel speed and direction constant as it progresses across the river to the end edge. In
general, the vessel speed should be less than the speed of the flow.
