E. Two-person Active Induction Mode Sweeps
Intwo-personactiveinductionmodesweeps,onepersonholdsthetransmitterand
theotherholdsthereceiverwhilewalkingtogetherinasweeppatterndetectinglong
conductorsinthegroundwhencrossedbytransmitterandreceiverpositionsand
orientation,asshownbelow:
Transmitter Set-up
• RemoveanythingpluggedintotheOutput Jack[T-6](thiswillplaceunitinInduction
Mode),selecthighfrequency(200kHz),ormediumfrequency(33kHzor82kHz),
andhighestoutputpowerlevel.
• HoldthetransmitterwiththelidfacingupandalignitwiththeInductionDirection
arrowlabel,asshownonthetransmitter,withthereceiver
Receiver Set-up
• Setthereceivertothesamefrequencyasthetransmitter.
• SelecttheInductionPeak(IndPk)mode,andpresstheGain Adjust[4](+or-)key
untilthebargraphisjustvisible.
Sweeping
• Sweepingcanbedoneatclosedistancesbetweenthetransmitterandreceiver.
• Forbestresults,thereceivershouldbeatleast25feet(7.6m)awayfromthe
transmittertobegintracingthetargetpathandhavethegainsetbetween78-84%
whenstartingthesweep.Attemptingtotracethetargetclosetothetransmittermay
leadtofalseindicationsduetothereceiverdetectingthelargemagneticfieldradiating
fromthetransmitter.
• InductionPeak(IndPk)modecancelstheairsignalcomingdirectlyfromthe
transmitterinductionantennatothereceiver.Increasingthesweepdistancebetween
thetransmitterandreceiverreducesthedirectairsignalandallowsforsensing
deeperconductorsandsectionsofmetalpipes.UseInductionPeak(IndPk)mode
whensweepingdistancebetweenthetransmitterandreceiveris25–60feet(7.6–20
m).Beyond60feet(20m)youcanalsousetheSpecial(single)Peak(SplPk)or
DirectionalPeak(DirPk)modes.
• Special(single)Peak(SplPk)canbeusedformaximumdetectiondepthandrange
(neededfordeepconductorsandmetalpipes),butwouldrequireincreasedsweep
distanceseparationbetweenthetransmitterandreceiver.
