6146/6156 DC Voltage/Current Generators Operation Manual
6.3 Test Method
6-2
Positive voltage limiter check: Current source +3 mA
ZERO voltage limit +1 V
FULL voltage limit +30 V
Negative voltage limit check: Current source -3 mA
ZERO voltage limit -1 V
FULL voltage limit -30 V
• Current source/limiter test
1. Connect the 6146/6156 and DMM (Digital Multimeter) as shown in Figure 7-1
(b) or (c).
2. Set DMM to DCV, auto range and integration time of 10 PLC or longer.
(Set to DCI when not using a shunt resistance.)
3. Set the 6146/6156 to the DC source mode.
4. Select current source.
With ZERO and ± Full Scale generated in the 3 mA range to 200 mA range, ver-
ify that the difference between the source value and the DMM measured value is
within the accuracy described in Chapter 8, "SPECIFICATIONS."
5. Select voltage source and set to the 3 V range.
With ZERO (minimum value: 1 mA) and ± Full Scale of the current limit set, ver-
ify that the difference between the setting value and the DMM measured value is
within the accuracy described in Chapter 8, "SPECIFICATIONS."
Positive current limiter check: Voltage source +3 V
ZERO current limit +5 mA
FULL current limit +200 mA
Negative current limit check: Current source -3 V
ZERO current limit -5 mA
FULL current limit -200 mA
NOTE: If the result of this test does not fall within the accuracy specifications, cali-
brate the 6146/6156 as outlined in Chapter 7, "CALIBRATION" or contact
an ADC CORPORATION sales representative for the calibration or servic-
ing.
