Chapter 8 Parallelism Measurements
Introduction
8-2 Measurements Reference Guide
Introduction
This chapter explains how to make two types of parallelism
measurements: coplanar and spindle. Coplanar parallelism
measurements determine if two machine axes move parallel to each other.
Spindle parallelism measurements determine if a machine’s spindle (on a
lathe, for example) is parallel to the travel path of the machine’s tool.
Before performing the procedures described in this chapter, you must fully
understand and know how to perform the procedures presented in the
Agilent 5530 Getting Started Guide.
For operating specifications for straightness measurement optics, see
Appendix A.
Figure 8-1 shows the required hardware for parallelism measurements.
