2. Slide a Swagelok nut, back ferrule, and front ferrule onto a piece of
1/4-in. or 1/8-in.Teflon tubing. (Select the tubing to match your column.) If
the end of the tubing is not cut straight, use a razor or sharp knife to make
a flat, smooth end.
3. Insert the Teflon tubing, 1/4-in. or 1/8-in. ferrules, and matching nut into
the vise-held Swagelok fitting. Tighten the nut 3/4 turn past finger tight to
set the ferrules on the tubing.
4. Loosen the nut and remove the assembly from the male Swagelok fitting.
5. Cut off the end of the tubing extending beyond the ferrule with a razor or
sharp knife. This piece of tubing is the spacer.
