AMPS/136 Mobile Measurements
Measuring Bit Error Ratio
This measurement can only be performed with the mobile on a digital traffic channel
in DTC Test mode.
1. Establish a call on a digital traffic channel in test mode.
a. Set the test sets Operating Mode (
F1) to DTC Test.
b. Put the mobile into digital test mode.
2. Press the
Measurement selection key.
3. Select the Loopback BER measurement.
4. Press the Loopback BER Setup (
F1) key.
5. Set the measurement parameters as needed for your measurement situation.
To see how low levels of cell power into the mobile affect the bit error ratio, press
Cell Power (
F7) and slowly reduce the level.
Observe how reducing the cell power
to low levels causes the bit error
ratio to increase.
