AMPS/136 Mobile Measurements
Measuring Frequency Modulation
This measurement can only be performed with the mobile on an analog voice channel
(AVC).
1. Establish a call with the mobile on an analog voice channel.
2. Press the
Measurement selection key.
3. Select the Frequency Modulation measurement.
4. Press the Frequency Mod Setup (
F1) key.
5. Set the measurement parameters as needed for your measurement situation,
including these typcial settings:
Distortion State = On
Modulation Frequency State = On
Distortion Fundamental Frequency = the modulation frequency
Filter Type = 100 Hz BW BPF (or as needed for the type of signal being
measured)
100 Hz BW BPF Center Frequency = the modulation frequency (if this filter is
used)
A typical frequency modulation measurement result is shown above. In this case, the
mobile’s microphone was stimulated by a 1 kHz tone. The Distortion Fundamental
Frequency and
100 Hz BW BPF Center Frequency were therefore both set to 1 kHz.
