Testing Solvent Level Sensors
1
Remove the float switches from the tanks and lay them
on the floor of the solvent compartment.
In normal operation the (long stem) solvent level switch
will be UP and the (short stem) waste level switch will be
DOWN.
No alarm should sound in this configuration (normal
operation).
2 Test the high waste level by raising the waste float
switch (waste level high).
OR
Test the low solvent level by lowering the solvent float
switch (solvent level low).
Both of these two abnormal conditions should produce
an audible solvent module alarm and an error notification
on the Control software.
NOTE
If an alarm condition does not occur for both abnormal
configurations, then contact your local Agilent Service
Department for assistance.
Liquid level alarms are of a purely advisory nature and
are not essential to the safe operation of the
instrument.
3
Replace solvent tanks and float switches to resume normal operation of the PL-GPC 220.
