WARNING
It’s vital you refer to the pointer that corresponds
to the current aircraft Flaps configuration for an
accurate AOA indication. Failing to do so may r
esult in inadvertently entering into a dangerous
AOA condition.
4.9.1 Display
The Aspen AOA indicator is comprised of a fixed colored tape with Blue, Green, Yellow
and Yellow - Black Cross Hatch bands. Two pointers point to the AOA colored tape
indicator. The top Flaps UP pointer and the bottom Flaps DOWN pointer. Due to the
difference in the Flaps DOWN or Flaps UP aircraft performance it is possible for the two
AOA pointers to simultaneously indicate two different AOA performance regions.

AOA Indicator Color Bands
Each colored band on the AOA indicator corresponds to a different position on an
aircraft coefficient of lift curve. Each region depicts a different AOA or lift availability
level. When flaps are deployed the shape of the wing is changed, lift increases, and the
coefficient of lift curve is shifted up. But even though the coefficient of lift curve has
shifted the relative angle of attack performance points have not.
