Cabin / SATCOM Conferencing
The cabin communications system does not have direct SATCOM calling
capability. The following procedure allows the flight crew to facilitate a
cabin / SATCOM conference call. (Refer to Satellite Communication
(SATCOM) System in Chapter 5, Section 20, for additional information.)
Note: The first two procedure steps may be performed in any order.
Establish communication with desired SATCOM ground station.
Establish cabin interphone communication with the cabin crew.
Select both CAB and SAT transmitter select switches on the observer
ACP.
Note: With both CAB and SAT transmitter select switches active on
the same ACP, a SATCOM conference is established between
the cabin crew and ground station.
Note: The conferencing ACP is unusable by the flight crew for other
communications while cabin / SATCOM conference is in
progress.
Monitor cabin / SATCOM conference on captain or first officer ACP.
When call is completed, terminate SATCOM connection on TCP.
