Safety Considerations
Warning
Do not place excessive load on the Reference Clamp Universal.
Warning
Do not grip the Reference Clamp Universal at the ball joints while the central tension
handle is unfastened as you could injure your fingers.
Warning
Loosen the mechanism by turning the central tension handle counterclockwise until it
stops and avoid using any additional force. Hold the articulated arm firmly with one hand
and hold the central tension handle with the other to avoid the articulated arm moving
towards the patient.
Warning
Ensure that the central tension handle is sufficiently tightened. To avoid unintentional
loosening of the fixation screw, do not place excessive weight on the Reference Clamp
Universal (e.g., by either leaning on the device or placing additional instrumentation on it).
Warning
To maintain adequate resistance in the reference arm joints, do not lubricate the joints.
Warning
Keep both the central tension handle and Mayfield "T" Screw tightened to avoid any
movement of the Reference Clamp Universal and reference array during registration and
navigation.
